Message from the Principal

(Foreword of SPOTLIGHT 2017 Issue 9)

Be Thankful

Welcome to the 9th edition of Spotlight, the annual English magazine of Lai Chack Middle School. Supported by a team of dedicated teachers, Lai Chack Middle School is always committed to creating an encouraging learning environment for students to learning proactively and happily.

The theme of this year is “Appreciate One Another and Count Our Blessings”. We aim to integrate life education into English language learning. Apart from drama appreciation, exciting and meaningful activities were held throughout the year during English Days and English Week. Through participating in various activities, students’ sense of appreciating one another is strengthened and they learn to look at the bright side of life, by counting their blessings.

The annual slogan is “From Zero to Hero”. On one hand, we strive to let students understand that everyone can be a hero as everyone is unique, equipped with different talents. On the other hand, hero can be anyone who is willing to lend a helping hand with a kind intention, regardless of how big the result of the help is. All these start from having a thankful heart, which leads us to appreciate and stretch our kindness by helping others. As stated in Colossians 3:15-17, ‘And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.’ Let’s learn to be more thankful every day!

By producing Spotlight, all students and teachers hope to share the fantastic school life at Lai Chack Middle School with you.
